TV star Lisa McCune got more than she bargained for when she signed an autograph for North Queensland retiree Betty Shepherd.

During a quick break in filming of Channel 9 drama Sea Patrol in the small town of Innisfail, Betty scrambled for a piece of paper and handed it to Lisa.

It turns out the dotted line on which she signed was a membership application for the Innisfail Coast Guard.

With the popular navy-themed series confirmed for another season, and filming returning to North Queensland next year, Lisa will have plenty of opportunities to fulfil her membership duties.

``Lisa was absolutely thrilled she had accidentally signed up as a volunteer,'' Betty said.
